CORD:USE Cord Blood Banking Process
Once you enroll with CORD:USE Cord Blood Bank, you will be sent a cord blood shipping container. Inside the container will be a collection kit and instructions which your obstetrical provider will use to collect the cord blood. The shipping container and contents must be taken with you to the hospital / birthing center for the delivery of your baby. Once your baby has been delivered, the umbilical cord has been clamped and cut, and your baby is safely in your or the pediatric team’s care, the blood will be collected from the umbilical cord and placenta by your obstetrical provider. The process will not harm you or your baby. During the admission at the hospital, a small amount of blood will be drawn from you for testing. The cord blood and maternal blood sample will be placed into the cord blood shipping container which will protect the blood during shipment.
CORD:USE will be available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to arrange the shipment of your family’s cord blood with a medical courier.
